The Federal Reserve, the world’s most powerful central bank, is set to start lowering interest rates later this year after its most aggressive campaign to tame inflation since the early 1980s. When will policymakers have enough confidence the inflation battle is won to make the first cut? How will factors including a looming presidential election, persistent price pressures and easing financial conditions affect the path of policy? And what does a potential change in the White House mean for the Fed and its leadership?

These questions are driving minute-by-minute decisions in financial markets and governments around the world, while also determining the livelihoods of millions of consumers and businesses.

The Fed is core to Bloomberg, whose readers closely follow every announcement and utterance by the central bank and its 19 policymakers.

WE'LL EXPECT YOU TO:

  • Oversee this critical beat and supervise a team of reporters following the Fed Board in Washington along with the 12 regional banks

  • Publish a large volume of real-time headlines and stories on tight deadlines from rate decisions, speeches and interviews, this is a marquee role

  • Regularly pull back the lens to produce analysis and enterprise pieces, examining the impact of Fed policy on Wall Street, Main Street and Washington; push reporters to deliver scoops; and ensure our stories get the attention they deserve through smart headlines and promotion.

  • Work closely with other editors on the team and with a wide range of colleagues across the newsroom, as well as with social media, web and broadcast teams.

YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE:

  • The ability to excel in a fast-paced news environment and to make sound news decisions quickly

  • A deep understanding of the Federal Reserve and US economy

  • Excellent news judgment and editing skills

  • Experience with features and story graphics

  • A willingness to delegate

  • Knowledge of markets and companies is an advantage

  • Prior management experience is a plus but not required

Salary Range: 120,000 - 160,000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
