BloombergNEF (BNEF) is a strategic research provider covering global commodity markets and the disruptive technologies driving the transition to a low-carbon economy. We help our clients gain a clear perspective on the trends in technology, finance, policy and economics that are driving transformation across the energy value chain. Our expert coverage assesses pathways for the power, transport, industry, buildings and agriculture sectors to adapt to the energy transition. We help commodity trading, corporate strategy, finance and policy professionals navigate change and generate opportunities. BNEF has 250 staff based in 19 offices across the globe.

BNEF is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our wind analysis team in China. We're looking for someone with a keen interest in clean energy, and enjoys digging deep into a topic. You develop original opinions through critical examination, and enjoy communicating these in both writing and speech. You are a quick learner with strong quantitative skills. You are passionate about developing insights and analyzing market trends, and have a good eye for detail. Teamwork is important to you, and you are excited by the prospect of collaborating with colleagues and clients from a wide range of backgrounds.

We will trust you to:

  • Become an expert on the trends shaping the wind energy supply chain

  • Research, analyze and write about the latest shifts in wind energy technology, trade and manufacturing, including cost trends, policy developments, company strategies, and supply chain constraints

  • Gather, organize and analyze data sets pertaining to these topics and publish written research in English on your conclusions

  • Explain your research to clients via email, telephone and in-person meetings. Deliver presentations at industry events

  • Build a reputation in industry for your insightful commentary and analysis of the sector, developing a contact network of industry figures and BloombergNEF clients to gather information and opinions

You’ll need to have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, science or engineering, or a strong willingness to learn coupled with a quantitative background

  • Passion for the energy industry and supply chains; a desire to become a leading expert on wind technology manufacturing

  • Proficiency in English and Mandarin, and good interpersonal skills

  • Ability to think critically and develop thoughtful opinions by cutting through the noise of data, finding key patterns, applying judgment to the claims of industry participants and asking insightful questions

  • Good time management skills, initiative and ability to work on multiple projects at once

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

We'd love to see:

  • Experience working on data projects, querying large databases and using analytical tools such as SQL or Python

  • Prior experience analyzing wind markets, policies or technologies relative to trade, manufacturing, or energy, whether through an internship, academic research, or prior work experience
